The vortex, grown in wood.

Our vortex plate is one of the oldest designs in the Aplicum workshop: a golden-ratio pattern of cells set in two families of spirals, turning in opposite directions and flowing in to one centre - the same arrangement nature uses in sunflower heads and pine cones. Until now we made it only in copper, where the pattern is flat.

This version is carved from solid wood. We engrave it layer by layer with a laser, so every cell becomes a small raised block and the spirals turn into a real 3D relief. Run a finger over it and you feel the vortex rather than just see it.

Choose your wood
- Cherry - warm and reddish, deepening with time
- Walnut - darker brown
- Olive - golden, with lively grain

Size
50 mm in diameter, approx. 5 mm thick.

How people use it
On an altar or meditation table, as a natural base under a crystal, a candle or a small bottle, or next to our copper vortex plates as their wooden counterpart.
